Oops, just realizing my Friday post never went through... Labor Day weekend we had some friends over for a wine tasting night which was a lot of fun and a nice excuse to use our wedding crystal! My girlfriends and I have been following The New York Times Wine School Column and red zinfandel was next on our list to try. I wasn't able to find all the wines that were recommended but picked up some substitutes... we tried Predator Old Vines Zinfandel, Ridge Lytton Springs 2011, Frog's Leap 2009 and The Prisoner Saldo. I can honestly say I've never thought to order a glass of zinfandel at a restaurant before our tasting but now I have a new appreciation for it [of the bunch, the Saldo was my favorite!].
